Hillwood High School band camp begins. After each day's work, the drumline will live, party, and sleep-over together during both weeks. It builds cohesion and solidarity. During the first week, they're at our house.

Alright - junior boy king has finally, completely done it. With the veto of federally funded stem cell research, he is now OFFICIALLY AN ASSHOLE in my book.

I'll no longer give the guy any benefit of the doubt, no more trying to see two sides, no more respect, no more nothing. The little bastard is completely undeserving of any respect afforded by the office of president, and I AM THOROUGHLY ASHAMED that this arrogant, overprivileged little shit is the top representative of MY country, and shamed and disgusted by his brainless followers who think stem cell research is a killing field for "the unborn."

Hey - even NANCY REAGAN is for it - it could have bettered the life of her damned husband.

Our country is in major trouble in our position in the world, and he continues to drive us deeper down, partly to pander to the fanatical religious freaks who helped fund his rise to power. He has damn near ruined America - my country - and it makes me sick.

Tower Records coupon in today's newspaper: five dollars off anything over fifteen bucks. Got a parking place opposite the door, where the police were stuffing a young-ish fellow into the back seat. Went straight to the jazz section. Looked in the A's, then over to the R's, and BINGO - the latest from Terje Rypdal: Vossabrygg.

Including a few favorite players from many years past, including Palle Mikkelborg, Jon Christensen, Bjørn Kjellemyr, and his son Marius Rypdal, it is something of a nod to Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew." Although this is most evident in the first cut; it goes on to serious Rypdal territory at its finest.

There are some sampled bits of of human conversation, which perplexed my Corgi dog. Also, some beautifully incorporated samples of Ineo, a late-eighties Rypdal work of symphonic and chorale.

A fascinating, beautiful, outstanding album, and I'll likely play it often.

Live room progress. There is a lot to do, and it doesn't go quickly.

Floor framing, with soundboard and concrete slab underneath. The soundboard and two-by-fours are completely separated from the block walls by a half-inch space.

Then, filled with sand, and topped with a layer of plywood.

The framing is mounted on top of two layers of soundboard.

There are dozens of different angled pieces to cut, then nail into place. As with the floor, there is a small gap all around - none of this framework actually touches the ceiling or walls...literally a room within a room.
