Talbot Sound hosted Professor Francis Kofi Allotey, who devised the Allotey Formalism, a technique used to determine matter in outer space.
Prof. Allotey flew from the Republic of Ghana to Nashville to attend the annual meeting of the National Society of Black Physicists, and was a guest via ISDN on BBC-Africa: Have Your Say. Today's program concerned a lack of high-level scientists from Africa, and what might be done to foster and encourage pursuit of science throughout the continent.
The show connected with noted African scientists in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Nairobi, Tanzania, Sweden, and my place in Nashville.
Prof. Allotey and I chatted a bit afterward. He's a very kindly and soft-spoken man of seventy-eight, and while his command of English is very good, I could hardly understand a word he said.
There's a link on the page to today's show (Thursday), although the link may not stay up for a long time. Professor Allotey appears about 7:30 into the show stream. It was a really interesting program, and I was honored to have Mr. Allotey in my studio.
