Monday, Nov 24
Beginning of Thanksgiving week, and in my corner of the business world, things have pretty much shut down. No bookings, voicemails not accepting any messages, automated email replies along the lines of "I do not exist until next Monday", that kind of thing. I'm chasing a couple of long overdue payments, but the responsible parties are incommunicado. What the heck, it's already been four to six months, what's a couple more?
And so, I offer up some random thoughts.
I have some studio troubleshooting to do. In resolving an issue involving re-seating of circuit cards in the console, I discovered another problem that I believe to be somewhere in the patchbay.
I need to fix it soon, because I have upcoming situations that will require full-on functionality. Not being swamped with work is bad, but having plenty of time to address maintenance issues is good.
As this is Thanksgiving week, I do not anticipate a visit from the Codes inspector, and expect we will continue to be without central heat for many days yet. Actually I have no reason to blame the calendar; Codes operates on their own time, but why shouldn't I think that they also took the entire week off?
I have a backlog of original musics to finish. I think I've mentioned this already. I will not be out Christmas shopping, or participating much at all in the Christmas Craze, so now's a great time.
I already miss warm weather. Fall is great, winter has its merits, both are natural and necessary, but I hate watching things die back and go dormant. I am ready for spring - right now. I want to do some things in the garden. I haven't yet done the major leaf cleanup.
It is rainy and overcast today and that makes me very depressed. That happens to me a lot. But I'm grateful for the rain.
I do not have a Myspace page. Everybody else does, it seems. Maybe I should put one together, though I'm not sure what the point would be. Maybe that everybody else has one. Maybe that's the point of not having one.

We're having a new HVAC system installed. It's a major step I was hoping to avoid for at least one more season, but despite the cost, it'll be great to have central heating and cooling that works, and hopefully lower utility bills.
The final step: Codes inspection. As anyone who's dealt with that knows, it could be next week, next month, or next year before they show up. Meanwhile, the house is uncomfortable (actually, it's cold and it really sucks) and the forecast low tomorrow night is in the 'teens. Little space heaters keep it just tolerable. I look forward to a plate full of breakfast that won't grow cold in three minutes.
Sunday, Nov 2
It is Sunday, and I'm very nervous about Tuesday's election. While poll numbers aren't supposed to carry any weight, I am cautiously hopeful that Obama will be unquestionably elected, but it ain't over until it's over.
At this moment, I've quite tired. I'm back in a physical exercise regimen, and am enjoying it. Three years of drinking and net surfing have made my midsection swell, and I'm fixing that along with the rest of me.
I have a backlog of music pieces that I must get to work on. It requires getting "into the right head."
I'm starting a new account with a company that produces audio magazines in four different western European languages. The product is available as a download, a CD, or cassette (wow). They soon will offer it on DVD, with a feature that lets you slow the playback of certain phrases in order to learn the phrase in that particular language. My job will be to master pre-edited material shipped here from the respective producers. More details as the situation unfolds. I'm very happy about the prospect of more income.
Daylight Savingtime ended today, and it feels late.
The Tennessee Titans remain undefeated at 8-0.
